Email Manager
A private tool that sorts one household's email so the mail that matters is easy to find.
Email Manager is not available to the public. It has two users, both in the same household. Only Google accounts on its allowlist can sign in, and the app runs on its owner's own hardware, reachable only from that private network. You can't sign up for it.
What it does
- Connects mailboxes. Each user connects their own Gmail accounts with Google's sign-in and permission screen, and their iCloud Mail with an app-specific password.
- Sorts new mail. Each user writes their own labels in plain language, such as "a bill that needs paying". Email Manager sends a cleaned-up copy of each new message's text to an AI model, Jev by TypeSafe, which says how likely each label is to fit.
- Writes the result back. Labels are added to the message in Gmail itself, so the phone's mail app shows the same sorting. Each user's labels sit under their own label prefix, so two people sharing a mailbox don't overwrite each other.
- Shows what's important. The app's main view lists only the messages its sorting marked as important.
- Helps unsubscribe. When a user asks, Email Manager unsubscribes from a sender using the method the sender's message offers, then checks that the mail actually stopped. It can also add a Gmail filter that archives later mail from that sender.
What it asks Google for, and why
- Signing in uses your Google name, email address and profile picture, only to know who you are. Signing in gives the app no access to your mail.
- Connecting a Gmail account is a separate step, with its own permission screen. The app asks to read and change your mail (
gmail.modify), so it can read new messages, add labels and send an unsubscribe email from your address. It asks to manage basic mail settings (gmail.settings.basic), so it can create the filters that archive mail from senders you unsubscribed from.
Your mail is never sold, never used for ads and never used to train AI models. The privacy policy explains exactly what is stored, who else sees it, and how to remove it.
Email Manager's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
